Join Dr. Mai Hassan of MIT's Political Science Department for an overview of the origins of the conflict in Sudan, Sudan’s history of authoritarianism and Islamist rule, the country’s fragmented internal security apparatus, and regional and ethnic divisions. Learn also how regional actors – namely the UAE, Egypt, Russia, and Saudi Arabia – have fueled this conflict for geopolitical gain.

About Dr. Hassan

Mai Hassan is an Associate Professor of Political Science at MIT. Her work examines topics that span across authoritarian regimes, bureaucracy and public administration, and contentious politics.
