Venice has been known as the Most Serene Republic (La Serenissima). From its early incarnation as a refuge from invaders to its current place as a tourist mecca, local photographer and art and history enthusiast, Bruce Magnuson, will explore the many facets of Venetian, history, art and architecture. Weaving local references to Venice (the Gardner Museum anyone?) with photographs from a recent trip, you'll come away with a greater appreciation for this complicated, captivating city.

After retiring from a career in Financial Services, Bruce has pursued his interests in photography, art, and history. He has had photographs in multiple shows at the Griffin Museum in Winchester and various other venues including a solo show featuring his infrared photographs at the Acton Library.

Bruce has studied at the New England School of Photography, the Griffin Museum, The DeCordova Museum, the Art Insitute of Boston, and Maine Media among other visual arts programs.

He presents at various organizations on topics that feature his photography and explores subjects such as art, history and travel, including the history of his home region the Hudson Valley.
